i woke up from a dream where i was laying on my back
now hold up.... am i crazy or is this dream still the place that i’m really at
cause early on i swore i was just laying in the grass just watching the stars pass
now i do the same but the distance in between has changed to a small glass
and i ask: “has the starry sea i gazed upon become the dark pond i’m really in?”
“is this space pod that i’m trapped in just a boat to reach my journey’s end?”
and where did it begin, i wonder
am i really here, or slumber
but if there’s no escaping the what’s my destination?
come save me, i’m lost sir

dancing through constellations i’m taking a dip through the big dipper
approaching the zodiacs i’m actually close enough to the big picture
it figures that what you saw there and really what you about to see here
i’m a shooting star, i promise
racing with the comets, if only i could really steer
i make a pit stop at all these planets that i pass
but never get the chance
was that too much to ask? cause i think i’m bout to crash
headed directly into a planet without brake pads or ejection
as i collide with this mass, smash cracks the glass, i’m left breathless

(and as the stars go out one by one i am left alone)

and as i lay there i knew it was over...
i knew my journey was about to end
but....
as i looked in the distance i could make out a figure
and i could... i could make out her image but i couldn’t see her features
but she spoke to me and she said
“you have courage, so you will live”
she put her lips against mine and i did
